A shotgun house found in disrepair was transformed into a mixed-use commercial space, including a headquarters for PART Studio.  

This collaboration with The Housing Partnership, Inc. (a Louisville-based housing non-profit) integrated teaching, community-engaged scholarship, and professional practice. HPI, Inc. (previously a client of PART), engaged PART and the HITE Interior Design program in a collaborative planning process in order to provide students the opportunity to work on the project as their senior capstone experience. Following the academic phase of the collaboration, PART took on the role of project architect for the 9000sf office suite as well as planning and permit documents for other areas of the building’s first floor. The overall project included four levels of housing and exterior work by Studio A Architecture). The project was completed in 2025.

This project consisted of a two-story extension of an existing house in the Highlands of Louisville.  The ground floor was reworked to connect the kitchen to the backyard and children's play areas.  Upstairs, private spaces were extended including a new bathroom for the master suite.  Construction was completed by Louisville-based contractor Designer Builders Inc.  

This proposal was completed at Luckett & Farley, where Nathan Smith was design director between 06/19 and 01/22. Located in Campbellsburg, KY, the event pavilion was part of a larger master plan for Rabbit Hole Distillery’s Henry County campus. The design sought to embed itself in the narrative of the Kentucky landscape and the production of bourbon. On a sloped site, the building grows from a bermed structure to an open event space that unfolds adjacent to a spring-fed pond, with south-facing views of the hills and rickhouses beyond. This project was completed with Luckett & Farley team members, including Architect Dana Zausch and Visualization Artist Nika Nikitina. The project was awarded a 2020 Merit Award by AIA Kentucky.

This project was created for the City of Louisville as part of the Connect/Disconnect:  A Public Art Experience program.  The In/Out table is an interpretation of a satellite office space for Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer.  The table was installed at the Kentucky Center for the Arts during the annual IdeaFestival, where it was used as a space for discussions and informal meetings with the Mayor.  After IdeaFestival, the table was reconfigured for ReSurfaced:  Three Days at 10th Street (an on-going pop-up plaza project in Louisville, KY).      

Monnik Beer Company is located in the Schnitzelburg neighborhood of Louisville, KY.  Housed in a former commercial bakery, the design for Monnik required a "brew barn" addition to an existing structure as well as reconfigured spaces for a bar and restaurant.  This project was a collaboration with Louisville-based contractor Bloembuild LLC.

The Mouse Room was created as a space to view The Mouse, a documentary film by Bigert and Bergstrom, included as part of the Second Life exhibition at the Kentucky Museum of Art & Craft. 

This addition to a historic home in southeastern Jefferson County, KY included a new master suite, gallery and upper-level balcony spaces to take in the rolling Kentucky landscape. The design was informed by the material quality of the existing structure.   

MicroPark is an interactive project created for the New Albany Public Art Project Bicentennial Series.  The park's form is abstracted from the local stretch of the Ohio River with its islands and falls.  As these very interruptions in the river's navigable flow prompted the existence of cities along its edge, the MicroPark works to engender activity on a broad strip of New Albany sidewalk as it takes on the role of community garden, performance space, lunch spot, etc.   

At the outset, MicroPark was planted exclusively with edible plants for public consumption.  This work was carried out in collaboration with Mike Pattison, President of the Southern Indiana Botanical Society.   

This renovation reclaimed the forgotten nooks and attic spaces typical of traditional residential construction to expand an existing bathroom and separate wc room into a bright and continuous space.  A custom glass insert and mirror served to dissolve the boundary between the spaces, while the custom wall-mounted vanity of polished concrete complemented the new materiality.  This project was completed in collaboration with Nathan Cole, Builder. 

635 Alto explores sustainable development through cost-effective, low-tech passive strategies, emphasizing locally sourced materials (rammed earth) while reimagining the courtyard housing typology in an urban context.  This five-unit housing project was developed for the Santa Fe Greenworks design competition in collaboration with Daniel Chavez of Scarab Design.

This project in the Irish Hill Neighborhood of Louisville consisted of the careful demolition of a 19th century shotgun house interior.  Extracted materials were reworked to create custom furnishings for the new open layout.  These included the mobile storage units/partitions of recycled lath that allowed the voluminous, light-filled space to be reconfigured as desired, connecting the shotgun to its nomadic shantyboat ancestry.

This design/build project for a couple in the Butchertown neighborhood of Louisville involved removing a previously concreted exterior backyard space and replacing it with a mud room addition, an arbor structure of western red cedar, reclaimed brick patio and rain garden.  PART guided the process through design, a variance process required by the Land Development Code and through the construction phase.  The demolition of a nearby warehouse provided an opportunity for sourcing materials (the brick walls) for walls and paths.

This renovation transforms the living/dining area of a Louisville residence.  The need to accommodate a new fireplace, storage, shelving and lighting provoked a solution whose subtle bends negotiate the existing limits of the space while smoothing out the transition between the existing interior and the outside

This renovation of an existing ranch house in Henry County, KY consisted of a 240sf addition for dining and utility spaces along with a complete kitchen redesign.  The project aim was to amplify patterns of circulation and reinterpret the boundary between the existing house edge, the new room and the gardens beyond.

An existing home near downtown Albuquerque needed a low-cost replacement for an attached shed that had served as the home's laundry room but left the adjacent interior spaces lacking in natural light.  The solution was a simple wood-framed structure with translucent panels extending from the openings in the existing house.  These openings created a light-filled interior that maintained privacy.
